All Star Village and Cooperstown Dreams Park

Baseball enthusiasts may have many ways of celebrating “America’s Favorite Pastime.” Many people take in a ballgame when they can, while others revolve their life around it. No matter what kind of fan you are, taking a trip to Upstate New York to visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame, where the all-time greats are enshrined, has to be a priority.

Today, baseball thrives as Cooperstown area is home to two of the largest and best Little League facilities in America: The Cooperstown All Star Village and the Cooperstown Dreams Park.

All Star Village

Sixty years after the Hall of Fame opened, a local Cooperstown couple opened the now-famous Cooperstown All Star Village. This is the world’s only baseball resort!

The standout element of the All-Star Village is that it hosts week-long baseball tournaments. You can register up a team (specifically a 12u team), stay at the resort, and even wear special uniforms and use their gear. Teams stay in well-outfitted bunkhouses complete with laundry service, an arcade, and a pool. The players get an initial medical checkup and nutritious meals each day. The other guests at the resort can keep tabs on the game stats and tournament brackets.

Of course, the All-Star Village is also a resort that caters to just about anyone. Amidst the restored 18th-century buildings, guests can experience amenities such as heated pools, the All Star Tavern, or walk in the beautiful grounds. The accommodations are luxurious. Choices include suites, rooms with jacuzzi tubs, and even off-site locations, should you wish! And, of course, you’ve got to take a look at their 50-foot-tall baseball bat!

Cooperstown Dreams Park

Located just outside of Cooperstown, the Cooperstown Dreams park offers Little League teams from all over the world a chance to play the best teams in their age group, and do so while taking in the cultural and life-enriching experience visiting Cooperstown has provided millions of others.

Over 165 acres, the Cooperstown Dreams Park consists of 22 lighted and professionally manicured fields, offering the best under-13 teams, hearty competition, while playing just miles from where the greatest players who ever lived are enshrined at the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Other attractions in Cooperstown

Maybe you haven’t yet been to Cooperstown because it just doesn’t seem like it would have a lot to offer. The major baseball parks in America (e.g., Wrigley Field, Petco Park, Yankee Stadium) are in major cities, so a trip to see one of these landmarks is easy to augment with a tour of the particular city’s other major attractions. Even though Cooperstown’s population can’t match those of the big cities, it’s quint unimpeded beauty is a spectacle. The village of Cooperstown has a lot to offer.The village is home to an array of singular boutiques and shops, which you can visit as you take the charming trolley around town.

In addition to the Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown is home to other culture-rich attractions. The Farmers’ Museum is one of the country’s oldest outdoor living history museums. The Fenimore House Museum hosts an extensive collection of folk and native american art. Glimmerglass Opera hosts a well-known and respected opera festival in the summers that produces classical opera, new works, musicals, and even hosts popular singers.

Twice weekly, Cooperstown is host to an impressive farmer’s market that features fresh produce, and the best from local wineries and breweries. When you visit, you must take advantage of all the outdoor opportunities. There are great parks, hiking venues, and and all kinds of winter sports (when the snowy season comes). You can do boat tours of Otsego Lake and take a look at the Goodyear Sanctuary wetlands. You’ll find that Coopertown is the perfect place for a picnic.

Getting There

The biggest difficulty of experience the grandeur of Cooperstown is getting there. Nestled firmly in the Mohawk Valley region of Upstate New York, there aren’t any major airports near Cooperstown. You either need to drive or get a car service from Upstate New York Airports like Albany and Syracuse.
